This project is about the work with adolescents in conflict with law in Rio de Janeiro-Brazil. Since 2011, a multidisciplinary team addresses discussions on family, violence, citizenship, sexuality, education and labour. The project aims to bring them to a critical reflection on the values that guide their practices, to review their attitudes and discover themselves as protagonists of historical and social processes. Adolescents in conflict with law have diverse and complex demands arising from multiple determinations, requiring the State to promote and protect rights, some of those already guaranteed by law, however not effectively. There's a need for intervention at the individual level, to strengthen self-esteem and to enable adolescents to critically reflect on its history and its potential. This group, although many constraints in its history, presents similar challenges to groups with different identities: rebelliousness, need for social belonging, immediacy, challenging limits.
