Utilising a personal experience in working with some key international child-related organizations, including Mercy Corps, UNICEF, Terre des Hommes, and World Vision, the paper reviews some of the practical obstacles that hinder participation of children in developing countries. By studying the role of the international organisations, as agents and carrier of the cultural values to the developing countries, the author explores the potential of international organisation in promoting the rhetoric of children rights in general, and the right to participation in particular. It will investigate the current as well as the potential role of these organisations in light of the projects that aims to increase children participation in communities.
It focuses on number of child-focused projects implemented in Gaza Strip, in Palestinian territories, to summarize some of the lessons and ideas that have the potential to increase the involvement of children in different aspects of their lives.
