The Right to Education Act, 2009 and the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act(Amendment)2012 in India guarantee free and compulsory education to all children of India between the age group of 6 – 14 years. Yet, 8.1 million children are out of school. Moreover, 40% children drop out of school before completing 8 years of education.
Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are two major groups of people who have been historically excluded and oppressed in social, cultural, economic and political affairs.
LAMP along with FICE-India has been working to ensure that children from all the marginalized and excluded communities attain their Right to Education. The main objective of the LAMP with the support of the FICE-India to dedicate itself to tackling the exclusion of all marginalised groups from education in a strategic manner, in line with Millennium Development Goal (MDG) 2 to achieve universal primary education, and international human rights instruments.
