Passion and Talents
For young people who receive help from youth care, is room for the development often not available or lost due to their problems. The priority is usually given to the goals to be worked on with regard to problems they experiencing. Young people become isolated from the social context en get labelled “problem-youth”. In order to understand the passion and talent development we need to know how to find out who has which passion or talent. The professional has more attention for the real passions and talents of the client, and makes this an explicit part of the plan of approach. The qualities and interests of young people are the starting point for the counselling. If they indulges in activities that they enjoy very much, they will automatically have more energy to spend on their problems. The appreciation young person receives for involvement in these activities strengthens his/her self image.
